Provincial & Triangular Inter-Provincial High School Mountainbike Championships

 

 Online entries are now closed - see late registration and entry times  (learners and schools from all provinces welcome!)

 

Riders should ride with their SASeeding number boards. Please collect you seeding/batch and registration sticker for the numberboard at registration. Riders without SASeeding numberboards will be issued a loan board for the day at no extra cost  - HIGH SCHOOL MARATHON RIDERS will ride with a different number board which they will receive at registration - no SASeeding numberboards on the HIGH SCHOOL MARATHON PLEASE!

Accommodation: affordable accommodation available at Parys High School hostels - only R70 (bring own bedding please)

 

A Provincial High School championship for Gauteng, Free State & North West Provinces

  • Sub-junior (13-14), Youth (15-16) and Junior (17-18) category boy and girl winners will receive High School MTB Marathon Provincial Champions' colours - see champions jerseys above

  • Best Gauteng, Free State and North West Schools to be decided

  • All finishers will receive unique event medals

  • Category podiums will receive unique 2015 gold, silver and bronze medals

 

An Inter-Provinvial High School championships between Gauteng, Free State & North West

  • The event logo represents the clash between 3 provinces

  • The winning High Schools will receive top honours, floating trophies and prize money totaling R20 000

 

Who may participate? High School learners age 13-18 from bona fide public and independent High Schools only (we regret - no home schoolers allowed). Riders from other provinces are welcome - they can podium on the day but cannot earn any points or titles

 

Format: Mountainbike Marathon (XCM) ±25km circuit

  • Sub-junior (13-14yrs) boys and girls will race 1 lap

  • Youth (15-16yrs) girls will race 1 lap

  • Youth (15-16yrs) boys will race 2 laps

  • Junior (15-16yrs) boys and girls will race 2 laps

To determine winning High School from each province (Gauteng, North West, Free State), the points will be awarded to riders from that province as follows:

  • for boys from position 1-15: 25pts, 21, 18, 15, 13, 11, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, 0

  • for girls from position 1-10: 20pts, 16, 13, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, 0

 

To determine the winning High School and the Inter-Provincial (Gauteng, North West, Free State) champion, points will be calculated according to over-all position, added and the school with most points wins and the province with the most points wins. (riders from other provinces positions will be ignored in this calculation.

  • for boys from position 1-15: 25pts, 21, 18, 15, 13, 11, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, 0

  • for girls from position 1-10: 20pts, 16, 13, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, 0

 

Feeding and technical zone/s: Technical support and feed zone for supporters at venue RIDE Arena - also finish venue (bring gazebos)

Cut-off: For the children racing 2 laps, a percentage rule will apply after one lap: If a rider do not complete his/her first lap within a time calculated by taking the time of the leaders on the first lap plus a percentage of that time, those riders will be pulled off and will not have to complete a second lap. They will however be considered finishers and worthy of a medal

Seeding: only SA National and CSA Provincial champions will be seeded

Prize giving: 13h00 - riders & school representatives have to be present to receive prizes

Prize money: R20 000 (all money will be paid to schools, not individuals)

To enter: Only R100/entry! Late entry fee R150/entry
